Play-off Week 6 Recap
Besides gold medal performances from the RBC Jackals and RBC Crushers, and bronze for the RBC Guardians, Week 6 of DJHL Play-offs also featured pockets of spectacular action in other divisions as the second season started to wind down. In Atom B division, the Caps and Warriors gold medal series is going the max as a result of a pair of wins by the Paradise squad (scores of 3-2 and 4-1). The big game 5 is slated for Monday at Paradise Arenas. By then, the series will have lasted 21 days! In the Peewee A series for the bronze, Falcons won game one 3-2. The Wolverines responded by rallying behind the strong goaltending of Clay Ryan to post a 5-1 victory to take the series to the limit. That battle will take place next Wednesday. With the match-up for the Fisher Family Championship Trophy in Peewee B on hold between the Warriors and Eagles, the bronze medal series took center stage. The Breakers and Renegades exchanged 1-0 victories before the Breakers clinched it with a 2-0 effort in Game 3. Devon Bungay registered his second shut-out of the series in the clincher, while Austin Lake (game winner) and Ian O’Driscoll provided the firepower. Mitchell Parsons had the game winner and William Oldford the shut-out in the first contest. Dakota Hogan was the scoring hero in the second contest. In Bantam B action, the Blades claimed the bronze with a 5-0 decisive victory in game 3 over the Celtics. Bradley Fleming earned the shut-out. The Blades, bound for Labrador for the HNL Provincials, exploded for five goals in third period way on to victory. Folks, thanks for staying calm and cheering them on! TP
