RBC Wolverines Claim Provincial Peewee 'A' Crown
The DJHL RBC Peewee Program finished in style on Wednesday night as the Wolverines and Falcons clashed in the Provincial Peewee A Championship Game at Paradise Arena Complex before several hundred fans. A classic end-to-end battle ended 3-2 in the Wolverines' favor thanks to a winning goal from Jordan Smith who tucked it five-hole on a sprawled Connor Roche in the Falcons cage with just over three minutes to play. Logan Noseworthy assisted on the game winner. The Wolverines opened scoring on a set-up from Michael Strapp and Noseworthy to Mark Corbett in the first period. After a scoreless second, the Wolverines widened the margin on a goal from Strapp, assisted by Justin Hepditch and Liam Hodder. The no-quit Falcons responded just past the six minute mark of the third with two goals in twenty-one seconds by shifty Kevin Guest to tie the contest at 2-2. Ethan Tucker and Colin Guest were credited with assists on the goals. That set the stage for Smith power play goal which turned the Wolverines' night golden. The bronze medal went to the Jackals who edged in the Scorpions based on goal average. The Tournament All-Star Team featured Kyle Williams of the Jackals in the net. Matteo Rotondi of the Falcons and Liam Guiney of the Wolverines on defense, with Justin Hepditch from the Wolverines, Finley Manning from the Scorpions and Tyler Gosse of the Cobras up front. tp
