Week 3 of the Scotiabank DJHL play-offs featured action in seven divisions and already eight teams have exited the DJHL for the season. The medal race will soon be joined by five other divisions as they clew up their regular season schedule.
Here are the Sportscraft Stars of Week #3:
First Star goes to forward Matthew DeHann of the BNS Hawks, who tallied an impressive 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in the semi-final clincher against the Cobras on Monday night. The feat gave DeHann 10 points in the series.
Second Star is awarded to Liam Ryan, goaltender with the BNS Lynx. Liam shutout the first-place Wolverines during game 4 of their Peewee AA semi-final series this past week, securing his team’s place in the League Championship. He was solid all game between the pipes and stole the show in the shootout with a beautiful poke check on the first shooter.
Third Star also goes to a goaltender: Connor Summers of the BNS Guardians. Connor earned his second shut-out of the play-offs this past week, denying the BNS Thrashers time and again in a 7-0 victory on Monday night to give his team a 2-1 lead in the best of five semi-final.
Honorable Mention goes to Alex Sweeney of the Mount Pearl Atom A for his late game heroics. Alex scored the tying goal with just 12 seconds remaining to force OT against the Northeast Eagles this week in the consolation round series finale. The Blades snipers finished things off in the shoot-out and will now face the St. John’s Caps in a best of three Bronze Medal series.
Honorable Mentions also goes to Nathan Hopkins, AP Center with the BNS Guardians. Nathan picked up 4 points in 3 games to help the Guardians advance to the Bantam A finals.
Winners can pick up their Sportscraft gift certificates at the store on Ropewalk Lane. Congrats!
