Week 3 in our DJHL play-off season was highlighted by lots of intense, exciting play. It inspired some players to deliver their best performances of the year. Here are the Sportscraft Stars of Week 3. First star goes to David Broders of the RBC Generals. David’s accurate wrist shot served him well in game 2 of the Bantam A semi-final against the Thrashers, notching a hat trick on the night to help his team advance to the League final against the RBC Gladiators. Second star is awarded to another hat trick artist, Alex Hickey of the Northeast Eagles Atom B team. Alex’s scoring prowess lead his team to a 4-1 victory over the Southern Shore Breakers on Friday night. The Game 3 semi-final win propelled the Eagles into the Atom B final against the St. John’s Caps. Third star goes to John Randall who continues to be the top playmaker for the RBC Generals in their play-off run. In the Bantam A semi-final clincher over the RBC Thrashers, John set up two goals and added another in the finals opener against the Gladiators to increase his play-off point total to eight in five games. This week’s Honorable Mention list is long as nominations have increased. Bravo to defenseman James Chubbs of the RBC Scorpions for continuing to rush and slap the puck in very impressive fashion; to goaltender Nathan Rose of the Northeast Eagles Bantam B squad for limiting the Paradise Warriors to one goal in the third and deciding game this week; to Zach Eustace of Guardians for using his quick hands to score a pair in his Bantam A game this week; and to Ryan St. John of the RBC Gladiators for firing the Game 2 series clincher in the shoot-out against the RBC Guardians on Thursday night. In regulation play, Ryan stood out both defensively and offensively, adding a key deflection goal late in the match. Winners can claim their gift certificate prizes at Sportscraft on Ropewalk Lane.
