Sportscraft Stars of Week 4 Released

Week 4 in our DJHL play-off season featured yet another big serving of highlight reel goals and jaw-dropping saves. It was a tough week to select the top performers. That said, we are proud to present the following Sportscraft Stars of Week 4. First star is awarded to goaltender Connor Roche of the Scorpions. Connor used great pad work and timely glove saves to shut down a relentless Jackals attack in Game 3 of the best of five Peewee A final to help his team win 3-1 and take a two games to one lead in the tight series. Many of the Jackals scoring opportunities were from in close, but Roche was stellar between the pipes for the Red Machine. Second star goes to Gabe Power of the Hawks. The forward delivered a four point performance in Thursday night’s consolation round game against the Wolverines, including a brilliant end to end rush to score on a textbook backhander to tie it early in the match for his team. Power and teammates Michael Skinner and Josh Villanueva combined for 10 points against the Wolverines in their decisive 7-3 win after a 2-2 tie earlier in the two game total goal series. The Hawks will now face the Falcons for Peewee A bronze. Third star goes to goalie Drew Pearce of the St. John’s Caps Atom A team. Drew played a very strong game against the Mount Pearl Blades on Thursday night in the deciding game of the Atom A semi-finals. A tight, low scoring game required Drew to make key saves late in the game with the team shorthanded because of a bench minor for too many men. With the game ending in a 2-2 tie, Drew made saves on 2 of 3 shootout attempts by Blades shooters to take the shootout 2-1 and the game 3-2. Caps are now off to play the Paradise Warriors in the Atom A gold medal series. This week’s Honorable Mention list includes Hudson Nicholl for being the sparkplug in the Guardians scoring engine on Tuesday night at Twin Rinks, leading his team with a hat trick on the way to a 5-1 consolation round victory over the Warriors; to Liam Rose of the Eagles Atom B squad for scoring twice in less than a minute to help his team defeat the St. John’s Caps 4-2 in game 2 of their finals; and goalie Mitchell Baker of the Guardians who delivered a 2-0 shut-out win for his team in game two of their consolation round series against the Warriors as they advanced to the bronze medal round. Winners can claim their gift certificate prizes at Sportscraft on Ropewalk Lane.
