Week 6 in our DJHL play-off season saw gold medals awarded in Bantam B, Peewee B, and Atom A, along with bronze medals in Bantam B and Atom A. Some super individual performances highlighted all of these wins. With all games done by Thursday night of this week, we can declare the Sportscraft Stars of the Week a little early. This week it’s an Eagles sweep and why not considering the club won a lot of hardware this week. First star goes to Goalie Nathan Rose of the Bantam B Champion Northeast Eagles. Nathan has enjoyed an impressive play-off run along with net partner Ben Lundrigan. He capped off his play-off season with a solid shut-out performance against the Goulds Pacers in the gold medal game at Jack Byrne Arena on Wednesday night, making lots of key saves in close and robbing one of their top forwards on a breakaway. Second star is awarded to goalie Lucas Durrant of the Northeast Eagles who was stellar in the cage for the boys in black and gold this week. Lucas and his goalie partner, Austin Whalen, only surrendered 8 goals over 5 games in the finals. Lucas capped off his DJHL season in style by helping his team claim the Peewee B crown on the road against the CBR Renegades by a 1-0 score in an exciting fifth and deciding game. Third star goes to Ethan Connors, a first year forward with the Northeast Eagles Atom A team. In game one of the bronze medal series this week, Ethan was rewarded for his grit and determination in front of the CBR Renegades net with a pair of goals as his team earned a 5-3 victory. His hard work continued in game two of the series at home, helping the Eagles clinch the Bronze medal in a 1-0 thriller over the Renegades. Honorable Mention to forward Owen Barrington of the Atom A Caps who scored the golden goal for his team in their sweep of the Paradise Warriors on Thursday night, busting through the Warriors defense to fire it top shelf to the delight of the home crowd.
