Hockey NL High Performance Program Spring Camp Info

Hockey NL is excited to announce changes to the High Performance Program (HPP). A Male Under 13 division will now be part of the program at the spring camp only. Set-up will be 6 teams, consisting of 9 forwards, 6 defence and 2 goaltenders per team. The camp will consist of player and goaltender on-ice skills sessions, followed by games on the final day. In addition to the on-ice sessions, players will also be exposed to off-ice fitness and classroom sessions. The camp will take place April 22nd- 24th at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. The goal of the camp is to expose and teach skill development to our players at the High Performance level, as well as prepare them off the ice through fitness and classroom settings. Playerswill learn of the expectations of the High Performance Program and the process of Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence. Since there have been changes over the years to the Male Under 16 event set-up, Hockey NL has decided to re-structure their Male Under 16 summer camp and selection process. The Male U16 group will participate in a 2.5-day provincial summer camp in Gander, August 14th-16th. From the summer camp a group of players will be identified to be scouted/tracked throughout the 2016-17 season. A final 1.5-day selection camp will take place in April 2017 with the team competing in the QMJHL Excellence Challenge (late April/early May 2017). The Male Under 16 set-up affected change to the Male provincial summer camp dates. The Male Under 14 group will now join together with the Male Under 15’s during the provincial summer camp. 2016 Spring Identification Camp Dates & Locations are as follows: Female Under 16: April, 15th & 16th (Paradise Double Ice Complex) Female Under 18: April, 16th & 17th (Paradise Double Ice Complex) Male Under 14: April, 15th-17th (Goulds Arena) Male Under 15: April 15th & 16th (Paradise Double Ice Complex) Male Under 16: April 16th & 17th (Paradise Double Ice Complex) Labrador Camp: April TBD, Location TBD 2016 Provincial Summer Camp Dates are as follows: August 4th- 9th: Female Under 16 & Female Under 18 (Gander) August 9th- 14th: Male Under 14 & Male Under 15 (Gander) August 14th- 16th: Male Under 16 (Gander) HPP Staff Applications will be released in January 2016.
