Winner of the Sportscraft Playoff Team of the Week in the fifth week of the DJHL post season is the U11B Goulds Pacers. 

Coming into the post season the Pacers finished first place in a very competitive U11B division. For example, only four points separated the top four teams at the end of regular season.

After earning an opening round bye, the Pacers faced the Eagles in the semi-finals. Their rivals from Northeast proved to be worthy opponents right away, surprising the Pacers by defeating them 6-1 in the opener. The second match of Week 4 ended in a 2-2 tie, setting the stage for a close finish in Week 5 and that’s what the teams delivered.

In game 3, the Pacers fell behind 1-0 but eventually tied the game early in the third period. Then with their goalie pulled and the season on the line, the Pacers’ Italia Costello scored with 42 seconds left to force a game 4.

In the deciding game 4 match, the Pacers trailed 3-2 going into the third period but rallied back in exciting fashion with a pair of goals to clinch the series and earn a ticket to the division finals against the Paradise Warriors.

In the finals opener on Friday night, the Warriors prevailed 6-4 over the Pacers. On Saturday, the Pacers returned to winning form and stretched the final series to game 3 with a 2-1 decision and once again Italia Costello scored the winning goal (assisted by Robert Melvin).

The DJHL will be arranging a visit for the captaincy of the Pacers to Sportscraft to claim prizes for their teammates. Congratulations to a team that clearly knows how to entertain the fans!
