Three players earned our special attention in week 6 of the Scotiabank DJHL play-offs and were picked as our Sportscraft Stars of the Week.
First Star goes to Andrew Davis, forward with the gold medal-winning U13B NE Eagles. Andrew was an offensive force in the deciding game last Monday, scoring both goals for the home team in a 2-0 victory over the highly-improved and tenacious Caps squad.
Second Star goes to the smooth-skating defender Leah Quinlan of the BNS GU15AA Shamrocks. Leah, like her teammates, have stepped up their game in the play-offs and now sit just one point shy of a gold medal against the strong Comets squad. Leah’s play-making and leadership truly stand out in this play-off series.
Finally, Third Star goes to Ava Willcott, the solid defender for the BNS GU15AA Comets, who stood out for her excellent two-way and game-winning goal in one of three games played in her team’s championship series against the much-improved BNS Shamrocks.
Winners can pick up their gift certificates at Sportscraft on Ropewalk Lane as of Wednesday. We encourage coaches and managers to nominate their players for outstanding performance and effort during the post season by emailing a short narrative along with studio player photo to djhl.minor@gmail.com. Deadline is Sunday night of each play-off week.
